Pizza!

Tonight we had homemade pizza for dinner!  It was really surprisingly good, with this dough, which was as tasty as all the reviewers said it was.  The crust turned out with a very nice texture, crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside and a good flavor.  We put pepperoni, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms on it (plus mozzarella cheese, of course!) but next time I’ll figure out a way to get the pepperoni to give off some of its grease before it goes on top of the crust.  Actually, next time I want to try a veggie pizza, but with drying out the vegetables some beforehand so the crust doesn’t get soggy.

In the depths of my heart, I’m a little sad it turned out as well as it did, because the whole process took over an hour and a half, what with the dough needing to rise and everything, meaning that I’m now spoiled for quick and easy delivery or frozen pizza.  I mean, our finished product wasn’t as good as Mellow Mushroom or Fellini’s, but it’s better than any of the pizza I’ve had since leaving the U.S.

One of the pizza delivery places here is called Yellow Cab, and it’s pretty good, but the scooter-riding drivers either have a hard time finding us or get stuck in traffic nearly every time, so the pizza is generally just warm by the time we get it.   Also, there’s a cheese in their mix that’s not quite right, just a little too sharp or a little too funky or a little too something.

Work is going well, if a little busy with one of my co-workers off in DC waiting for his wife to have a baby.   Lots of holidays coming up, even though I will be working a couple of them thanks to the holiday party in Baguio that I volunteered to be the control officer for. I think everything is coming together for that, but it may be that I’m sufficiently clueless about the whole thing that I don’t notice how poorly it’s going.  Time will tell, I suppose.
